Commitments of Plzeňský Prazdroj to the European Alcohol and Health Forum

Upgrade of responsible drinking service Promile INFO

Committed period: 1. 11. 2009 - 30. 10. 2010

Commitment is related to the drinking and driving issue in Czech Republic with objective to influence awareness and understanding of this topic and prevent drinking and driving. Key outputs of the commitment are:

  1. Enlarge the number of the knowledgeable people through special education on festivals and big events and through communication on promotional materials, internet websites and in the media. ¨
  2. Increase the number of the “Promile INFO service” users with focus on risks groups. This service enables to detect when is safe time to drive after drinking alcohol. It was launched by SANANIM NGO in 2005 with support of Plzensky Prazdroj since 2007. Part of this commitment is the service upgrade by new JAVA application so that users can download it directly to their mobile phones which make usage of the service easier.
  3. Promote drinking and driving issue and the Promile INFO service to Plzensky Prazdroj (PPAS) employees through internal communication campaign and by implementing a special free of charge number for employees.

Expand consumer awareness of information service on blood alcohol content (BAC) 

Committed period: 15. 7. 2008 - 30. 6. 2009

Commitment summary:
Plzeňský Prazdroj committed itself to support Promile.INFO service as partner of the Sanamin NGO in the Czech Republic. We supportd Sanamin to increase the usage of the service and increase awareness among public and particular drivers about its existence and availability. The Promile Info service provides consumers with information on their actual level of blood alcohol content (BAC) and about the estimated time to reach 0 BAC with a scientifically verified methodology. Received information is approximate indication for drivers when they can approximately drive after drinking. The awareness and usage of the service were supported by public relation and advertising campaign. The service was also promoted by distribution of pamphlets during concerts and other events. Advertisements were placed in magazines for drivers and on web pages of regional councils.
