Pilsner Urquell
From the date on which the first pale lager was brewed in the Mestansky pivovar (Burgess' Brewery) in Pilsen on 5 October 1842, our predecessors sought the right name for this extraordinary, astounding product, which outstripped everything previously brewed anywhere in the world. Plzensky pramen or, Prapramen, Mestanske Plzenske, Plzensky pravy zdroj – these were the brand names that the Burgess' Brewery registered at the end of the nineteenth century. It was another name that stuck, however: Prazdroj.
