Pilsen Region Governor’s Award For Social Responsibility

Plzeňský Prazdroj was awarded the 2013 Pilsen Region Governor’s Award for Social Responsibility. Companies in the Pilsen Region had a historic first opportunity to compete for the award. The award was announced by the Council of the Pilsen Region, the Association of Socially Responsible Companies, the Chamber of Commerce of Pilsen Region, and the Quality Board of Czech Republic. The aim of the award is to recognise those companies and organisations that are active in the Pilsen Region in the field of social responsibility. The Governor’s Award for Social Responsibility rises ideologically from the National Award of the Czech Republic for SR and is awarded to commercial and public sector subjects of the Pilsen Region.

Drahomíra Mandíková, director of internal communication and relations,accepted the award for companies with over 250 employees from governor Václav Šlajs today during the ceremonial event at the Region Seat in Pilsen, saying:

„The responsible approach is part of our company philosophy. I am convinced that, thanks to that approach, we are developing our business activities in the right and sustainable direction. We also recognise how important it is to share our success with our community where we are commercially active, with our partners, our employees, our suppliers, and we are very happy that the Pilsen Region recognises our efforts. I would like to thank our employees who, with their everyday efforts, fulfil our vision of sustainable development of our company.“

The responsible approach in Pilsen Region has been linked to the Ten Priorities since 2006. The principles of sustainable existence are part of company strategy and of the everyday work of its employees. The key priorities included in the framework of social responsibility include: environmental protection with aim to conserving water and energies, elimination of CO2 emissions, and control of the packaging industry and waste. We develop programmes supporting responsible beer consumption, and we are trying to create working environments with fair reward systems which are in accordance with gender-equal opportunities, safe, healthy, and discrimination free, etc.

The public is aware of our grant programme called PRAZDROJ TO PEOPLE, designed to preserve material and intellectual values for future generations and support the betterment of the quality of life of people living in regions where the company is commercially active. Until today, the company redistributed more than 75 million CZK (about ,750,000 USD) thus supporting more than 340 projects in Pilsen and Moravia-Silesia regions.
