The first event that accompanies the
exhibition of art inspired by beer, which is taking place at the Manes
Gallery in Prague, is an evening featuring some prominent Czech authors
who will read from their books: Michal Viewegh, Emil Hakl and Vaclav
Koubek.
Beer as artist’s inspiration and part of the
story will be the topic of a literary soiree, just as it is the theme of
the entire Fount of Czech Culture exhibition. Michal Viewegh, one of the
authors to read his texts during the evening, describes his relationship
to the golden beverage as follows: “My relationship to beer is positive,
although I am not a typical beer drinker. But I do like a glass of beer
with my lunch, and quite regularly at that. But I have to stress that
really only one glass.”
The literary reading will start at 5 p.m. in
the Manes Gallery and is free of charge for the public.
Other accompanying events of the Fount of Czech
Culture exhibition devoted to literature:
17 September 2003, from 5 p.m. – “Three Pints
of Beer and Writers” – a chat with Radko Pytlik on the cultural importance

Castle Band
24 September 2003, from 5 p.m. – “At the table with Bohumil Hrabal” – the
late author’s personal friends recall their time spent together; guests:
