Plzensky Prazdroj, a. s. Group Reaches Record-Breaking Sales

The breweries in Pilsen, Nosovice and Velke
Popovice combined in the group of Plzensky Prazdroj, a. s. achieved in
2001 record-breaking sales of 7,967,892 hl beer with a year-to-year
increase of 3.1 per cent. The group performed excellently in outside
markets and confirmed its role of the key Czech beer exporter.

The total foreign sales of the the group`s brands
including Gambrinus and Velkopopovicky Kozel produced under licence in the
Saris brewery, Slovakia, make 928,837 hl. The amount of 687 175 hl beer
was exported directly from the Czech Republic which is 22.2 per cent up
the previous year. Domestic sales of the group of Plzensky Prazdroj, a.s.
increased by 1.6 per cent year-to-year reaching the amount of 7,280,716
hl.

The most successful brand of the group is again
the premium brand Pilsner Urquell the total sales of whose increased by
26.6 per cent against the previous year. Exports of Pilsner Urquell jumped
up by as much as 37.1 per cent. Pilsner Urquell is the best selling Czech
brand abroad.
