Radegast brews supplies for the summer

“Beer production for the summer goes at full speed. Per week we brew as many as 74 batches using more than 765 tonnes  of malt, which is close to a half more than in the winter,” says Ivo Kaňák, brewery manager, adding: “Our top capacity per week is approximately 1429.8 thousand gallons. Beer needs time for fermentation and ripening, and our brewers keep an eye on it according to traditional recipes. Our beer is bound to have the same high quality all year long, in the summer and in the winter.”

The bottling lines in the brewery can produce up to 75,000 bottles per hour and run as long as 150 hours per week in four shifts, if need be. In hot weather and high demand, the brewery’s turn out per week can amount to 6 million 0.5-litre bottles, some 2 million 0.3-litre bottles, as well as over 57 thousand 50-litre (10.99 gallons) barrels. This was the record set last July.

The priority in the summer is to make sure that storage space is being used to the utmost effectiveness, including several exterior warehouses, and that packaging material is abundant and its turnout smooth.

Pilsner Urquell’s central dispatching centre in Nošovice deals with up to 6,000 purchase orders per day, and covers 1.000 secondary distribution routes in the summer. Tens of vehicles leave the brewery gates every day with up to 180 different route plans. Their mileages run 63 percent higher compared with the winter season, and the amount of individual delivery stops increases by 39 percent.
