Pilsner Fest is not over yet … keep celebrating! Nontraditional excursions are being offered to visitors of Prazdroj breweries during the month of September as well

„We would like to preserve the festive Pilsner Fest atmosphere even after the festival, and so we started the project ‘Pilsner Fest is not over yet … keep celebrating!’ Now, the visitors have a chance to experience unique tours of the beer brewing museum as well as of Plzeň historic underground. A tour of premises of Plzeň breweries on a wagon pulled by brewery’s horses will be a quite attractive experience too. I  think that those who are coming for the first time as well as our returning visitors will appreciate this opportunity greatly,“ advertises the idea of the project Jitka Froydová of Plzeňský Prazdroj by the introduction of their unique program.

In beer brewing museum, the visitors will be transferred into times of old thanks to unusual tastes and live reenactment shows. Visitors older than 18 will have an opportunity to taste beer brewed in accordance with a recipe from the 16th century. Live reenactment shows will unveil the lifestyle of a household–with–rights–to–brew–beer. Such a  house is actually now the home of the museum. At the end, interesting competitions will test visitors’ ability to differentiate different kinds of beer according to its taste. The beer brewing of old in beer brewing museum will begin on every Saturday of month of September, which is on September 3, 10, 17, and 24.

Those interested in history will be pleased with a visit to Plzeň historic underground. Impressive labyrinth of hallways, cellars, and wells, which has been built under the town already during the 14th century, is one of the biggest in Czech Republic. During the excursion, visitors will discover secrets of authentic findings and secluded places hidden underground, and they will learn about the life of Plzeň citizens of middle ages. They will take part during secret serving ritual of Master beer brand, which they will have a chance to enjoy in magic atmosphere of the city water-tower. Magical underground invites visitors for a visit on Saturdays, September 3, 10, 17, and 24.

To experience the view from brewery’s delivery wagon, visitors may take advantage of a tour on the wagon pulled by brewery’s horses. They will have a chance to see parts of Plzeň breweries normally closed to ordinary visitors. They will see historic things that are essential parts of the historic industrial heritage of Plzeň breweries Prazdroj and Gambrinus such as power switchboard, river waterworks, water tower, and active business premises such as malthouse or brewhouse. A part of the tour is also a popular visit to historic cellars with beer tasting of unfiltered and non–pasteurised Pilsner Urquell beer drawn right from the oak lager–barrel (available to visitors 18 and older). The wagon tours will be available on Sundays, September 4, 18, and 25, and October 2.

All these above mentioned after–Pilsner-fest activities will culminate in celebration of a brewing of the first Pilsner Urquell beer batch, which will take place on October 1 – 4.

The project „Pilsner Fest is not over yet … keep celebrating!“ is natural continuation of nontraditional tours of Plzeň breweries Prazdroj and Gambrinus, which took place during Pilsner Fest, and were available at a  discounted price and with longer hours. A record breaking number of 2680 visitors visited Pilsner Fest nontraditional tours this year.
