People Decide Who Gets 2.5 million CZK from Prazdroj to the People Programme in Moravia

13.2.2012 Company

A total of 82 projects competed for the contribution from the 10th annual Prazdroj to the People programme fund. The jury, comprised of important citizens from the region, selected 23 projects that were then submitted to a public vote. The final round was decided by votes from citizens of Frýdek–Místek, Třinec, Jablunkov, and Ostrava counties. They had a chance to support their favourites by a mail–in coupon found in Moravia–Silesia Today newspaper, via internet, or by sending a text message from the donors DMS.

Besides the 2.5 million CZK received from the Prazdroj to the People programme, the selected organisations received more than 37.000 CZK, sent as donations by the voting public.  Participants could vote in the form of a DMS text message, and thus together with the important points, also sent a contribution of 27 CZK to their favourite project for each text message sent.

„We are very pleased by the participation of private organisations, by public participation in the final voting, and by the cooperation of region representatives in the jury of the Prazdroj to the People programme.  Thanks to this fruitful cooperation, we were able to support 129 organisations from the Moravia–Silesia region with the amount of nearly 22 million CZK in the past 10 years,“ said Drahomíra Mandíková, Director of Corporate Relations and Communication at Plzeňský Prazdroj.

Thanks to votes from Plzeňský Prazdroj employees, it will be possible to buy a  mowing tractor for the field in Dobrá. The jury also selected their own team with a unanimous vote for the purchase and installation of a  handicap staircase platform at the Ostrava Zoo.

Among the projects receiving support are, for example, the elementary school in Jablunkov, Třinec Exercises with Children project, and traditional folklore ensemble Ostravička.
