„Plznička U Formana“ is the restaurant that represents the tradition of Pilsner Urquell brand, and at the same time keeps up with the modern pulse of our time, including everything it has to offer. Plznička also offers a space for self–expression via art exhibitions of young artists, concerts of talented musicians, or travelers’ visual presentations,“ Dalibor Vainer, Manager of Marketing of Plzeňský Prazdroj explained.
Brno’s „Plznička U Formana“ offers, in addition to well–tended tank Pilsen lager, other barrel Pilsen beers such as Gambrinus 11° Excellent, Special Master Dark 18°, and non–alcoholic beer Birell. The restaurant is remarkable not only for its beer but also for its interesting Czech cuisine with its traditional and modern aspects. Their specialty, the pork side marinated in milk, roasted on a potato bed, and served with cabbage and a beer sauce, is unavailable anywhere else in Brno. „Plznička“ is located in the heart of the town on Česká (Czech) Street, better known as “Na áře,” in exquisite spaces of a historic building, once a home of Restaurant „U Formana.“ The restaurant has two floors with the top floor being non–smoking and able to host up to 70 guests, and the lower, bigger section with a capacity of up to 90 seated guests.
The concept behind „Plznička“ aims at creation of popular places, where young adults can get together to not only enjoy quality beer and modern Czech food, but also a rich cultural program. Every Thursday, there will be interesting concerts of many types of musical formations in Brno. During summer, you can hear and see bands such as Two Basses, Homoguru, or Brno’s own Gentle Irony Trio. Plznička will not limit its offerings to musical performances only. They are preparing a travel lecture given by Karl Wolf, and an exhibition of a design association “Mančaft.”
The concept behind „Plznička“ is remarkable also for its interior with fresh, modern design accentuating original patterns of the concept. „The main feature of each restaurant is the bar. The one in Plznička is made of two contrasting black materials – polished, shame stone Hi-macs and rough, natural slate. Above that, there is a dominant cupola–like light fixture with a large inside diameter, with honey–like light that complements the pleasant atmosphere of the entire space,“ architect Jan Špaček commented on one of the aspects of Plznička’s interior.
The ceremonial opening of Brno’s Plznička as a new cultural center will be held in an artistic spirit on this coming Friday, July 20. First, there will be an exhibition of the artwork by the author of the interior, architect Jan Špaček, called „Photogenic Aspects of the Arhitecture.“ This will be followed by the performance of Brno’s D.J. Michal Pešina, and the evening will conclude with the unique, semi–acoustic concert of much–anticipated band Navigators that is recently considered the top of the Czech funky show business.
