Blue Effect with MCs Nasty and En.dru Brewed Beer for Pilsner Fest

2.9.2013 Company

In-house barley malt, Pilsen water, and first class Žatec hops are the main ingredients of Pilsen beer, each carefully checked by Václavem Berkou and festival MCs Nasty Nasty Cerha and Ondřej Havlík, whose stage name is En.dru. They joined rock scene staple Blue Effect during the final “hopping” process for the batch crafted especially for this year’s Pilsner Fest.

„We did not think twice about going when we got the invitation to the brewery. After long decades of playing at various beer and summer festivals, this is the first time we’ve had the chance to brew beer specifically for us and our fans – particularly the Pilsen. We are convinced that the beer will taste great and will contribute to the fine atmosphere of the festival,“ said legendary Blue Effect lead singer Jan Křížek.

The patrons of this year’s Pilsner Fest completed the brewing process with the short ring of a bell in accordance with the long tradition of Pilsen brew masters.„Beer, with all its traditions and rituals, is for us a pleasure, and the subject of interest and inspiration. Now, after we have seen how it is made, we will enjoy it even more,“ MC Petr Cerha “Nasty” confessed. „The Pilsen beer may even find its place in one of our entrances, and definitely afterwards,“ he added smiling.

Pilsner Fest, the celebration of the birth of the original Pilsen lager Pilsner Urquell, will symbolically begin this year on the very day the first batch was brewed: October 5, 1842. Along with rich musical performances, visitors will enjoy an entertaining programme that includes presentations on original beer making crafts, the tasting of malt products, and a unique performance by the members of the National Theater dedicated to the history of Pilsen beer. Additionally, the finals of the world-renowned contest for Pilsner Urquell’s Master Bartender will take place. The celebrations of Pilsen lager will also travel to other parts of the Czech Republic by traditional horse-pulled vehicles, loaded with period-oak barrels, bringing unfiltered Pilsen beer and much fun to Czech people everywhere.
