Altogether 13,485 votes were received for the Prazdroj lidem project, which shows a 19% increase from last year.

I am glad that the biggest increase was in voting though the DMS (a text message with a donation) form. The number of votes with financial contributions to organisations increased by 85%. Organisations received more than 75,000 Czech crowns from these contributions ($4,072 US) more than before,” says Zuzana Novická, Corporate Responsibility Manager.

The greatest number of votes, 3,202, was received by the organisers of the international festival of choirs in Baška. The ski centre TJ Radegast can also look forward to a contribution. Thanks to votes from employees from Radegast, 250,000 Czech crowns ($13,573 US) will be given to increase security in the centre.

The board of representatives, which consists of celebrities from the Moravia-Slezsko regions, determined who else would receive resources. Some of its members are, for example, Senator Eva Richtrová and paraolympian Radim Běleš. As a result of voting by the board, a project for the renovation of a fire house with voluntary fire fighters from Skalica received the most votes.

The board also distributed other resources, worth in total 2.5 million Czech crowns ($135,737 US).

Final results are available at http://www.prazdrojlidem.cz/.

This project of giving out contributions was established in 2002 with the name Občanská volba, People’s Choice. The name PRAZDROJ LIDEM, Prazdroj to People, only came about six years later. This year, the eighth year, is breaking records not only with the most projects registered, but also with the highest number of participating voters. Through this programme in the last eight years, Plzeňský Prazdroj gave out close to 14 million Czech crowns ($760,130 US), which was distributed among 81 organisations.
