The public will choose how Plzeňský Prazdroj will make life in Pilsen more attractive

31 not-for-profit organisations applied for the donation. Since the first programme began in 2002, 600 projects have participated in it. 146 of those have split 41 million CZK (about 2,050,000.00 USD) so far.

The organisations submitted their projects from June to the end of August this year. This year, during the selection process for public voting, the Council of Selectmen considered several aspects such as the need for the project, how much of the population the project affects and, this year, also for how long the project will be financially prosperous. „We were also paying attention to a diversity of fields so the Pilsners have something to pick from, and the selection was truly colourful. There is a nice balance between sport, cultural, historic, and charitable projects among the others,“ said Ilona Mauritzová, Rector of the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen and spokesperson for the Council of selectmen.

For example, among the advancing projects is The Bells of Plzeň, which aims at returning four bells to the tower of St. Bartholomew Cathedral. Another is the project Bambino Creativo = Futuro Positivo, with the goal of creating an ideal space for creative activities for children and their mothers in Litice.

The public has a chance to get to know all of the projects at www.prazdrojlidem.cz, as well as regional media, and later at the Facebook profile of Prazdroj to People in the Pilsen region.

Voting begins October 1st at the above mentioned Internet address, and also via mobile phone. SMS texts in the form of „PLP space number of the project“ may be sent to phone number +420 603 824 189.  The third method of voting is via print coupons that will be published in the Pilsen Daily on October 17 and 24.

„Three projects that receive the most public support will be most favoured by the Council of Selectmen, and employees of Plzeňský Prazdroj will receive the requested amount of the donation automatically. The rest of the funds will be divided among the other most successful projects according to public voting,“ said Pavla Mášková, manager of the company responsibility for Plzeňsky Prazdroj, explaining the process of distribution of the 3 million CZK. A Festive announcement of the winners in the public voting, along with  the awarding of funds, will take place at the end of November and the event will welcome all participants and the Council of Selectmen.
